ArPePe

In the heart of Valtellina, beneath the medieval towers of Castel Grumello, the Pelizzatti Perego family has been growing Nebbiolo on stone-terraced slopes since 1860.
Here, at the foot of the Rhaetian Alps, viticulture is an act of devotion. Our vines — Chiavennasca, as Nebbiolo is known in these mountains — cling to steep terraces held in place by dry-stone walls built by hand over centuries. Every cluster is harvested the same way: by hand, on foot, one terrace at a time.
In 1984, Arturo Pelizzatti Perego re-founded our family winery under his own initials, ArPePe, determined to restore a name and a tradition that stretched back four generations. His conviction was simple and uncompromising: Valtellina Nebbiolo deserves time. Time on the vine, time in the cellar, time in large old casks — years, sometimes decades — until each wine is ready to speak clearly of its origin.
Today, the fifth generation — Isabella, Emanuele, and Guido — carries that conviction forward. From our historic cellar in Grumello, dug into the mountainside, we craft wines from the great subzones of Sassella, Grumello, and Inferno: wines of transparency, freshness, and alpine minerality, fermented with native yeasts and released only when they are ready.
