Appellation: Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi D.O.C. Classico Superiore.
Type: White, dry wine.
Varietal: 100% Verdicchio.Color: Bright straw yellow with greenish reflections.
Bouquet: Floral, herbaceous, almond and lemon notes, mineral hints.
Taste: Fresh, taut, dynamic with a pleasant savory sip.
Alcohol: 13.5% (varies with vintage).
Serving temperature: 12/14° C (54-57º F).
Vinyard Notes:
Vineyard: Located in the district of Palombare in Sasso di Serra San Quirico.
Elevation: Between 370 and 330 meters.
Vine age: Planted in 1955 with an extension carried out in 1991.
Varieties of the vineyard: The vines planted are 90% old clones of Verdicchio and for the remaining 10% a mix of Trebbiano and Malvasia, with some plants also from Montepulciano.
Exposure: EAST-SOUTH/EAST.
Soil: Medium mixture composed of clay and limestone, with presence of sandy interlayers.
Microclimate: We are in one of the westernmost areas of the DOC and this implies a minor marine influence that, together with the proximity of the Apennine chain and altitude, gives this area strong thermal excursions, determinants of the aromatic development of grapes.
Winemaking Notes:
Harvest: Hand-picked in boxes.
Vinification: Soft pressing of the whole bunches with extraction of the flower must only, static decantation, fermentation with indigenous yeasts.
Aging: With yeasts in cement with frequent batônnage for 7 months and then at least 9 months in bottle.
