Sangiovese Frizzante “Libero”

Two brothers farm four hectares above Pesaro, ten kilometres from the Adriatic, on ground their grandfather bought after the war. Sangiovese and Albanella are picked and fermented together, then bottled with a measure of their own frozen must so the wine finishes fermenting where it was sealed. Never disgorged, nothing added. Softly sparkling rather than insistent — about two atmospheres, the old Marche way, written down in 1622 and never improved upon. Serve it cold.

Appellation: Vino Frizzante

Type: Red, sparkling

Varietal: 80% Sangiovese, 20% Albanella

Wine Details:

Tasting Notes:
Color: slightly hazy pale straw-yellow with delicate, soft, and continuous bubbles.
Bouquet: Vibrant and fresh on the nose. It features prominent aromas of green apple, citrus zest, wild white flowers, and a distinct undercurrent of fresh bread crust or brioche due to the intentional contact with the yeast sediment.
Palate: Crisp and beautifully textured. The lively acidity of the indigenous Albanella grape drives the palate, while the Sangiovese component lends a subtle, savory structure and a faint hint of red berry undertone.
Pairing:  The ultimate aperitivo with salty snacks. Fried and oily foods, salumi and charcuterie, seafood and shellfish; soft and creamy cheeses.

Vinyard Notes:
Production Area: The estate spans approximately 4.5 to 5 hectares nestled in the rolling hills of Pesaro, located in the northernmost corner of the Marche region.
Soil: Limestone-rich soils and clay.

Winemaking Notes:
Vinification: The Sangiovese undergoes gentle pressing with minimal skin contact to avoid extracting deep red color and heavy tannins, keeping the juice light and vibrant.
Fermentation: The juice undergoes spontaneous fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using wild, native yeasts. Before fermentation finishes entirely, the wine is chilled to pause yeast activity. It is bottled completely unfiltered and without added sulfur or sugars (dosage). The remaining fermentation finishes inside the sealed bottle, trapping the natural carbon dioxide to create the delicate frizzante sparkle.
